Kings Court 016: Iliad

Kings Court Jeremiah reviews Iliad. Its a card game about the legends surrounding the Trojan war. Through a series of sieges you battle for victory points, carefully choosing what armies to apply and when. This game has an interesting blend of mechanics than even achieves a bit of a poker feel but is clearly about war.

*Gasp*!!!! An inaccurately drawn siege engine!?!?! Heaven forfend! I’m glad to hear that Jeremiah uses an authoritative source document for correctly identifying siege engines like freakin’ Dungeons & Dragons books.

This game is great. I received it as a Christmas gift from a gaming friend. We immediately played it and it has become our favorite card game by far.

If you like card games, pick it up. It’s great.

(Since there is no edit to previous comments, consider this an addition to the above comment.)

Jeremiah is right about the scoring. It can seem very daunting when reading the rules. But, when you see the cards out it makes sense.

The best part about the scoring is when you are at the end of a battle and you are trying to determine if you should take the hero and let your opponent play his last card or do you play one more round to try and take out a Hoplite in a Phalanx with an archer.

I personnally would give the game a 4. This is a great game.
