We have a lot of fun today talking about cheating at the game table. We have all been witness to such a blight of character and it makes for some great stories. We talk about quite a few games today to include China Rails and Pillars of the Earth. Pillars just one Best Advanced Game in Japan. We also are preparing a new Pathfinder campaign. Paizo made some important announcements about its future. |
| Everyone, join us for our Catan Online party on Sunday, March 30th after 5 PM PST. You will need to download the client software and perhaps allowing it to update when logging on for the first time. When you get into the world, click on your backpack and move to the World Village, the English speaking community. Remember, the software is still in beta, so some translation bugs are still being worked out. For more information and discussion, join is in the forums. |

For those of you holding on to an older version of Catan, Mayfair now has the Adapter Kit. This provides an outer frame to enclose the hexes that make up the island of Catan, stabilizing them on the table.
Several bits of community and convention news have come up during the show. We learn that Bo is headed to Game Storm, an adventure the rest of us are envious of. The Southern Arizona Gamers Association announces RinCon in Tucson, Arizona. This will be a don’t-miss event. We are introduced to the Collegiate Association of Table Top Gamers. The troops are starting to be rallied for something called MideastCon.
Its always fun to reach out to other folks with media to share. Of course, we are especially delighted to call your attention also to Accent Your Character. This dialect training series for role-players and other casual pretenders is reviewed in great detail by the Wandering Geek on his Game Bag Review Show. You can purchase them on CD or digital download from paizo.com. We also mention today about the new video from Ghoulash.

Episode 2 of POINT BLANK gears up for the GAMA Trade Show and invites listeners to participate in our PSI Game Night event Tuesday evening during the show. I also explain the details of the exciting new promotion that White Wolf is running called Exalted: Graduate your Game where I literally give players FREE copies of this popular RPG simply by trading in their old books. |
- My Hot Picks for Second Quarter 2008 are:
- Munchkin Quest
- Supernatural RPG
- Exalted: Legacy of the Unconquered Sun
- WoD: Innocents
|
| I am granted the honor of concluding the show with three POINT BLANK interviews - The Wiretap features a phone call with Avalon Hill developer, Mons Johnson discussing the special 50th Anniversary edition of Diplomacy, followed by Valley Games’ owner Torben Sherwood showcasing the exciting reprinting of Titan, and finishing it all off with the White Wolf Confidential that takes a sneak peak at the awesome new Vampire Clanbooks with developer Joseph Carriker. |
| The total length of the show is roughly 30 minutes, which should still be ideal for the average commute time. |

Every episode of POINT BLANK features a recorded interview with the creative team at White Wolf that gives listeners a sneak peak at the new releases coming out in a segment called White Wolf Confidential. For episode 2, I had the pleasure of interviewing the lead developer for Vampire: The Requiem, Joseph Carriker, about the beautiful new clanbook series. |
| I think Joseph did such a great job detailing this new line, I decided to release the full interview as its own separate show. I am certain that you will find this interview enjoyable and very informative, especially if you’re looking for more information about the Ventrue clanbook, Lords Over the Damned. |
| The total length of this special director’s cut interview is roughly 10 minutes and includes information not included in POINT BLANK episode 2 due to time constraints. Enjoy! |
| Please email all questions and comments to boyan [@] pubservinc.com. |

Bo is a huge fan of Domaine. We haven’t seen him leave the house without it since we have known him. When the opportunity came up to spotlight Domaine, we had to ask him to do the honors. He jumped at the opportunity. It is a great area control board game with elegant mechanics and a tight economy. |

The show goes on. There are hundreds more games to play and billions more people to meet. Our main topic today is about building community. We are delighted to announce in today’s show that our community in Sierra Vista has found a new home. We have also started a meetup group to help us organize and find new players. Our meeting times and locations are listed there. Its free, so come and by and play. |
| The first game we talk about today is Kragmortha. This one has a physical component. The goal is on the other side of the room; the fun is bumping your competitors into the evil dark lord and forcing them to take on vile curses. These curses may need to be held between your elbows for the remainder of the game. The rules are easy for kids 8 and up to learn and play with each other. |

We had an absolute blast with Entdecker. The age recommendation for this one is 10 and up. You take turns flipping tiles and exploring the world. Your score will reflect how well you navigate the seas and your wise allocation to land expeditions. This one will be a coming part of Catan Online for premium account holders. You can also play a super simplified solitaire version online called Oceannia or step through the online tutorial. |

Jeremiah joins us from a new location in Georgia as he undergoes some National Guard training. Bo joins us to catch us up on a bunch of news, such as the Toy Fair and his new podcast, Point Blank, for PSI. We start our show by saying goodbyes to Dungeons & Dragons co-creator, Gary Gygax. NPR has a great story where you can learn more. Other news includes Midnight Syndicate’s release of the movie soundtrack for The Rage. |
| White Wolf has a very interesting promotion going on for Exalted where you can get a free copy of the game. You “graduate” from D&D by sacrificing your players handbook. Your then off and running with a new game. We learn some about the game but not near enough for my tastes. I look forward to my first opportunity to play. |

We found a great conversation by the Fist Full of Comics crew about our dialect training series for roleplayers, Accent Your Character. It is a fun listen and an objective 3rd party conversation about the CDs. They are also available as digital downloads from Paizo.com.

Not too long ago, Bo introduced us to a game that doesn’t leave his car except to break it out and play. It is a Catan title called Domaine; a great area domination game. We have also been playing with the beta version of Domaine in Catan Online. We also learned the World Villiage has been created. Sign in, click on your backpack, and move to the World Villiage. |
Polymancer says their goodbyes. Appropriately, their last installment talks about wrapping up a campaign. Polymancer magazine is a multi-genre magazine about roleplaying games (RPGs), miniature wargames, LARPs, and more. Articles are written so that they can be useful to gamers of all kinds, no matter which rules they prefer to use. This is done by making the articles “system-independent.” There is a complete adventure scenario in every issue. This is not an e-zine, but the real thing: an honest to goodness, printed magazine for gamers. Find out more at www.polymancerstudios.com.

We have been looking forward to talking to Guido Teuber and Gavin Allister of Catan, LLC. We have been enjoying a variety of games at PlayCatan for a while now and now have the chance to let Guido and Gavin share them with you. We even have some links to share with you to download the Catan Online beta clients so you can start playing today. |
| Guido Teuber grew up in the world of Catan as a subject of playtesting for his father, Klaus Teuber, and later to take on roles inside the company of this successful line of games. He is now a managing director for Catan, LLC, the United States wing of the Catan World. Gavin got his start in the Catan world by translating German for us English speaking folk and now serves as the community manager for the online world. |
 |
 |
Apart from Catan Online that you play in, we also talked about several web games that don’t require a client download. The popular one is Catan Dice Game, which is also about to be released as a physical product. You can also play Oceania, Starship Catan Light and Multicatan. They’ll give you a challenge and a brief break, and a chance to sample the games before buying their physical counterparts. |
Make sure to join us for the Catan Online world with the client software. Remember this is not an official version but still in beta testing. It is playable and an absolute blast, but you may find a few lingering translation errors. Enjoy, and we will see you inside the world of Catan.
