I'm at 8:50 into this episode, and I have to stop and come here and correct Ron. He says that when the second A.D 79 card comes up, "the rest of the pieces that are in front of you, even if they're not in the city, get thrown into the volcano." That's not how I remember the rules. I don't have my copy of the game in front of me, but if I go to Amigo Spiele's website (Mayfair's German partner in publishing this game) and look up their English rules ( http://www.amigo-spiele.de/upload/Pompeji_englisch_5725.pdf ) it says "All game pieces left in front of the players are put back into the box (do not
throw them into the volcano!)." This can make a difference when it comes to the tiebreaker. The more people you get into the city, the more you can get out, but also the more that are vulnerable to lava. But if they don't get into the city, they can't end up in the volcano. So there's another decision point there.

Gah! Another correction, and I tip my hat to Derek who noticed that something wasn't quite right here. From those same English rules: "Also thrown into the volcano are game pieces
which, even though they could still be moved, are so enclosed by lava tiles that there is no way left for them to reach one of
the city gates. These pieces are thrown into the volcano as soon as they have been enclosed."

So yes, if they're covered in lava, they go in the volcano. If they're surrounded by lava, they go in the volcano. Also, when discussing the end of the game, the rules state "All game pieces left on the board after that are thrown into the volcano."

So yeah, any person placed into the city is either gets out safely, or ends up in the volcano. Nothing is left on the board, prior to scoring.

Now to see what other errors there are. ;-)
