PGOC 070: More On Mechanics |
|
We add Berin Kinsman, AKA Uncle Bear, to our group today and continue our discussion on Game Mechanics. Berin helped us trace the discussion even farther back to an article by Ron Edwards. Berin also references the RPG Blogger's Network, Musings of the Chatty DM, and The Core Mechanic. He also talks about his Get Your Dice Off My Lawn contest. Jeremiah had a list of news notes to share around a board game resurgence, Hasbro's cash flow, Nerds at Heart, and Con of the North. Of course a number of games came up today. Those of note include Mouse Guard, Tigris & Euphrates, and Pandemic. Jason has been editing Verge Recharged. Its still in playtest mode and all feedback is welcome. Feedback included a link to Brilliant Gameologists about gaming environments from a previous episode. We also want to welcome The Game's the Thing to the Pulp Gamer Media Network! |

I spit soda through my nose when Jeremiah suggested Rolemaster for the candy campaign Jason was challenged to write!
Hats off to you all and Berin for bringing some added attention to The Core Mechanic and my emerging project: Open Game Table. Thank you!
You did say the check's in the mail, right Jonathan?
Seriously, Open Game Table is going to be an incredible resource for players and gamemasters.

Thanks for the love Berin, always appreciated.

Hey Pulp Gamer crew! I just have a quick comment on the Pandemic boardgame. While Pandemic only plays up to 4 players, there's an expansion in the works that will allow for a fifth player (among other goodies).
Concept: Moron Mechanic
Issue: Trusts everyone too much
Edges: Instinctively good with cars
Connection: Gay Mechanic competitor
Connection: Lieutenant Dan from Veet Nam
Whats a grey mechanic? Brain surgeon? Alien vivisectionist? Black and white film editor?

I had some moron mechanics work on my car once, but I found some better guys.
