Brenda leads a discussion about the value we add to the lives of our little ones when we introduce them to the world of games.

We have a soft launch of our Play in Public program coming this Sunday with Game Daze.  On the fourth Sunday of every month, we will be in the Park Place mall after 1 PM to play games and expose our hobby to the public.

Speaking of promoting games; be sure to share the podcast Family Night with everyone you know that is not a gamer.  This one is especially for parents and teachers.  Use email, Facebook, Twitter, or whatever it takes to reach the inner gamer of unsuspecting souls.

We start to talk Halloween, as it is quickly approaching.  In fact, we are going to be at Hat’s Games on the Saturday before Halloween with some spooky titles from our library.

Other topics in today’s show include the Neighborhood Toy Story DayRinCon, Iron GM, Neoncon, and hub, Hasbro’s new television channel.

Some of the games in today’s show include Nile, Gold Mine, Lemming Mafia, Mouse Guard, Launch Pad, Rory’s Story Cubes, Now What, and Train of Thought.

I heard you mention a game I really like in your episode on making gamers. Mouse Guards is an awesome game for both the new players and for the jaded players. It's a fresh take on "historical" roleplaying. The game has the feel of the middle ages but with the freshness of a mouse's view. The only thing that could possibly make it better is a boxed set.

With that said, check out the recent news on David Petersen's blog about the Mouse Guard roleplaying game. It's a boxed set with custom dice, a paperback book of the rules, character sheets and a set of cards to help players keep track of the maneuvers their mice are taking when the action gets going.

My jaw dropped when I saw this post. Looks like time to put another boxed set on my wish list.

Spooks--It looks like it is still being shipped, which is great for me. My son won a copy of it at a convention last year and our deck is pretty beat up. We take it a long on camping trips and picnics and such. If it is going out of print I am getting another copy NOW so when it is too trashed to use I'll still have it.

Nice episode, and Iike the idea of looking for ways to 'recruit' more gamers.

Point of clarification - Train of Thought is not "a Seth Jaffee game" - it's by a couple Canadian guys we met at GAMA trade show, Jay Cormier and Sen-Foong Lim. it's a really fun game, along the lines of Taboo. I'm a big fan of Taboo - I like it very much - and I think Train of Thought is even better (which is why I told Michael to publish it!)

Keep up the great shows!

- Seth

P.S. Neat Halloween party, Hat!
