PGOC 178: Organizational Tools |
|
"Hold on, guys, just need to find which book that table was in. It'll just take an hour, two tops." For roleplaying games, miniatures games, and some of the larger boardgames, organization and pre-prep are the crucial difference between a fast, flowing experience and a jarring slog. The Pulp Gamer Crew discusses some of their favorite tools and practices, from the old, practical standbyes to accidental discoveries to the magic of PDFs and wikis. We also touch on how these tools and their use can influence character, setting, and mood in your games. Along the way, we drop a few names:
In news, Alpha Omega has started releasing game-fiction through RPGNow, including "One Ten-Thousandth" by our own Jason Corley and Little Yoshida by Jess Hartley. And in games, we take a look at Space Alert and Masks: 1,000 Memorable NPCs for Any Roleplaying Game. We also discuss--of all things--chess variants, from Chess960 to Khet. We sponsor ourselves this week: Accent Your Character--dialect training for roleplayers and other casual pretenders! |

Happy to do it, Martin. After the show I realized...I had forgotten to mention the name generator at the bottom of each page! It is simply ridiculous how many different ways of using Masks there are.
Hey, thanks for the shout out, Corley.
However, the link you have for Infrno here and in the itunes descriptions leads to INFERNO, which is some dumb World of Darkness MU*.
Wooops, thanks Mike.
The correct link is http://www.infrno.net

Thank you for taking some time to talk about Masks, guys! One of the reason Masks (and Eureka) took us so long to create was precisely because of all of the organizational elements that you addressed in this show -- it's awesome to hear that highlighted.
